Jarrod Cunningham
Jarrod's career was brought to a premature end with the diagnosis of a form of Motor Neurone Disease, called ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Jarrod, a New Zealander played 82 ties for London Irish. Jarrod continued to show his determination, providing hope, education and inspiration to fellow sufferers after his diagnosis. Using his profile, and various fund-raising events, Jarrod not only sought to raise money and awareness but to also stress the positives and replace the negatives. The Benevolent Fund made a contribution to help with his medical costs. Jarrod moved back to New Zealand in 2004.
Jarrod sadly passed away in July 2007 in New Zealand. Jarrod was honoured with two memorial services in the UK, which were attended by many in the rugby community.
