| PRA Chairman David Barnes has celebrated his 200th appearance for Bath Rugby.
The highly-respected player, who has been chairman of the PRA since November 2005, reached the impressive milestone at the weekend when Bath faced London Wasps in the Guinness Premiership.
David’s loyalty and commitment to the club was acknowledged after the game with the presentation of a watch by club chairman Andrew Brownsword, and a bottle of champagne and cake by club sponsor Wilts Electrical Wholesalers.
At a joint post-match celebration with his fellow prop Matt Stevens, who has made 100 appearances for the club, David said: “It means a lot to me to play 200 games for Bath. I did not think that when I arrived here in 2000 that I would hope I would go on to achieve such a thing.
“I am very proud to have achieved 200 games and have got a couple of years left in me yet for a few more.”
Since joining Bath, David has become a cornerstone of the club’s pack and last season took part in every game, starting all but five times, and clocked up nearly 2,000 minutes on the field.
As chairman of the PRA, David is responsible for working with his fellow Premiership club representatives on the Management Board to help safeguard the futures of their fellow players both on and off the pitch.
