| A NEW fund-raising record was set for the PRA Benevolent Fund at England’s opener in the RBS 6 Nations.
Fans enjoying VIP hospitality in The Players’ Lounge at Twickenham for England’s clash with Wales dug deep to raise £4,420 – the highest amount generated for the PRA Benevolent Fund from a raffle in The Players’ Lounge.
Prizes that generated the donations were a limited edition signed England RBS 6 Nations shirt, two tickets to the Guinness Premiership Final and a signed copy of World Cup 2007 – The Official Account of England’s World Cup Campaign.
Damian Hopley, Chief Executive of the PRA, said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped raise such a fantastic amount for the PRA Benevolent Fund. The money will allow us to continue to support players in need of help after their playing careers have finished due to serious injury or illness.”
The Players’ Lounge was a sell-out on Saturday with 300 guests enjoying the matchday hospitality which featured expert pre-match analysis from Danny Grewcock and Pete Richards before kick-off and England players Phil Vickery, Mark Regan, Steve Borthwick and Danny Cipriani after the game.
The next Players’ Lounge, to again be staged in The River Suites when England round off their RBS 6 Nations campaign by taking on Ireland on March 15, is already a sell-out.
