| Although the England Team fell one step short of retaining the Webb Ellis trophy in October at the Rugby World Cup, their magnificent efforts in France were rewarded last night when they received the prestigious BBC Sports Personality - Team of the Year honour. |
Former England international and PRA CEO, Damian Hopley commented, " The Rugby World Cup campaign will go down in sporting history as one of the most remarkable turn around in sporting history. The sheer bloody mindedness and spirit of the Squad and Management was nothing short of inspirational and touched a chord with so many British fans. After such a frustrating couple of years, It was fantastic to see some of the fringe players from the successful 2003 World Cup squad play a significant part in the campaign in France, alongside some of the outstanding up and coming English talent. The team are worthy winners of the Award, and we send many congratulations to Brian, Phil and the squad."
To commemorate their remarkable Rugby World Cup campaign , Team England have published their official account of the campaign in France called "Team England Rugby - World Cup 2007" with insights from many members of the squad into the emotional roller coaster that defined their World Cup. The book is available in all major book stores - the perfect Christmas gift. |
