| Two announcements this week have reaffirmed the PRA's traditional link to England Seven's representative honours in this country, which now stretches back fifteen years. |
Andy Vilk, PRA representative for Sale Sharks, has been announced captain of the England Sevens team in the first round of this season's IRB Sevens circuit in Dubai. Coupled with this, Simon Amor, PRA Vice-Chairman and London Wasps representative, has been appointed Head Coach of the England Women's Sevens team having captained England Sevens for four years and led them to a record four successive victories in Hong Kong and two successive victories in Dubai.
The PRA's Chief Executive, Damian Hopley, a World Cup 7's winner in 1993 in Murrayfield commented, "It is great to see Andy take over the Sevens captaincy from Simon and we wish him and his team the very best of luck in Dubai next week. Simon has always been ambitious to further his off-field experiences whilst still playing professional rugby, something the PRA wholeheartedly encourages all its members to do . I know Simon will be taking his new coaching role with the Women's Sevens team very seriously and we also wish him and his team the best of luck for the coming season."
